Douglas Ward Takes on New Leadership Role with UMC General Agency

Posted on

Douglas Ward

Over the last 23 years, Douglas Ward has faithfully led our Information Technology and Management Information Systems ministries, where he has worked to maintain and innovate our data systems, expanding our ability to collect and measure data, such as our Statistical Tables and Charge Conference reports, and enabling Conference leaders to make more informed decisions and better communicate with the members of the NC Conference.

Ward has also made connections with many across The United Methodist Church, where he’s held leadership positions through the United Methodist Information Technology Association (UMITA), and successfully deployed the technology and data infrastructure for General Conference 2024 as the General Conference Director of Information Technology.

On June 1, Ward’s service to the NC Conference will conclude, and he will begin leading data services for a general agency in The UMC, building on an impressive service record.

“We are so grateful for the many years of Douglas’ dedicated service to the NC Conference, using his skills and knowledge to advance and maintain our technology and information management needs,” said Sheila Ahler, chairperson for the NC Conference Council on Finance and Administration.

“While he will be missed, we are thrilled he is continuing in our shared ministry in the United Methodist connection.”

Ward’s departure opens an exciting opportunity. We are now accepting applications for the Director of Technology & Systems Development position. Visit nccumc.org/employment to learn more and apply.
