NC Conference Leadership Trainings: S/PPRC
The Center for Leadership Excellence presents the 2026 S/PPRC training…
January 27 @ 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm
Join the S/PPRC training, led by Jessie Larkins and Beth Hood. Whether you are starting a new leadership role or have been serving in church leadership for years, this training will prepare you for your much-needed ministry. You may register for any of the six virtual workshops designed to equip you to serve in your local church.
How It Works
We will host six Zoom meetings, and registrants can choose the topics that they need. If you cannot make it during the scheduled time, no worries, we will send the recordings for all the sessions in early February.
Who Can Register?
Anyone! We send invitations to the chair of each committee and church lay leaders. However, we recommend that all committee members attend the training to receive the same information. If you are interested in learning about the roles and responsibilities of other committees, feel free to sign up!

About the Presenters

Beth Hood is an ordained elder in full connection in the North Carolina Conference, currently serving as the Assistant to the Bishop for the Office of Clergy Life. Beth has served churches in Sanford, Lemon Springs, Aberdeen, and Wilmington, and as Superintendent of the former Greenville district. Having grown up in Carrboro, NC, just outside of Chapel Hill, Beth has affection for all things Carolina blue.

Jessie Larkins is a member of the North Carolina Conference and is currently appointed to ministry beyond the local church where she works with the Duke Clergy Health Initiative developing resources to improve the wellbeing of clergy leaders and congregations, and as a mental health therapist serving clergy, church leaders, and other vocationally called adults. Jessie is a 2007 graduate of Duke Divinity School and served local congregations as associate and solo pastor for eight years prior to spending four years working as part of district leadership in the Corridor District. After working with Duke Clergy Health through the COVID pandemic on a health intervention designed to help clergy manage stress, anxiety, depression, and spiritual wellbeing, Jessie went back and gained training at UNC-CH in mental health counseling. In her life as pastor, wife, parent of two teenagers, congregation member at Duke Memorial UMC in Durham, and counselor, Jessie seeks to listen well, lead with vulnerability, remain curious, and stand with others as they face hard things.
