NC Conference Leadership Training: Lay Leader
The Center for Leadership Excellence presents the 2026 Lay Leader training…
January 25 @ 3:15 pm – 4:15 pm
Join the Lay Leader training, led by NC Conference Lay Leader John Hall. Whether you are starting a new leadership role or have been serving in church leadership for years, this training will prepare you for your much-needed ministry. You may register for any of the six virtual workshops designed to equip you to serve in your local church.
How It Works
We will host six Zoom meetings, and registrants can choose the topics that they need. If you cannot make it during the scheduled time, no worries, we will send the recordings for all the sessions in early February.
Who Can Register?
Anyone! We send invitations to the chair of each committee and church lay leaders. However, we recommend that all committee members attend the training to receive the same information. If you are interested in learning about the roles and responsibilities of other committees, feel free to sign up!

About the Presenter

John Hall currently serves as our North Carolina Conference Lay Leader, and he’s been deeply involved in United Methodist ministry across our conference for years. You might have seen him serving as a district president of United Methodist Men, or maybe you crossed paths during the 2013-2014 Leadership Fellows program, where he partnered with Aldersgate UMC in Durham. That’s his home church, where he continues to serve as a lay minister focusing on church administration.
Before dedicating more time to ministry, John spent 23 years as an R&D development engineer with Hewlett Packard, then joined SAS as a technical trainer specializing in computer architecture. He retired from SAS in 2018, which has given him more time to invest in the work he’s passionate about.
John and his wife Holly have two children and one grandson who they’re pretty sure is the most amazing kid around!
