Ministries of Leading, Caring, and Communicating

Lay Servant Ministries focuses on ministries of leading, caring, and communicating – the outward expressions of our faith lived out in homes, workplaces, and communities. In the following, summarize and assess the role of the CLM in your congregation as relates to these three areas. For each, continue to follow the pattern of reflection on what is working well, what could go better, and what resources might be available to help achieve success.

Leading(Required)

In lay servant ministries, leadership has many forms. It might include leading Bible studies or other small-group studies, leading mission endeavors globally or within the community, leading in the ministries of the church, leading in worship settings, or even in helping lead change. Describe the ways this CLM serves as a leader in your congregation and community.

Caring(Required)

In all that they do, lay servants provide a caring presence. They may participate in caring and visitation ministries; welcome strangers and new members; establish ministries that care for the hungry, the naked, and the imprisoned; exhibit care and concern for pastors, staff, and others. Describe the ways this CLM provides care for others through their ministry.

Communicating(Required)

Lay servants respond to the call to share the good news of Christ with others by communicating. Communication might take the form of sharing an encouraging word with those who are suffering, speaking out for the poor and the oppressed, conveying God’s Word through preaching, teaching, or speaking in community venues, and living our their daily lives as followers of Jesus Christ. Describe how this CLM communicates the good news of Christ through their ministry.
