The United Methodist Collective
A new hybrid (online and in-person) missional faith community of the NC Conference of the United Methodist Church.
The United Methodist Collective was created by the Office of New Faith Communities in partnership with local UMC pastors, congregations, and conference leaders to offer support to those people who are feeling displaced or disconnected from their local United Methodist Church families due to disaffiliation. All are welcome who desire an ongoing connection to the United Methodist way of worship, discipleship, mission, sacrament, and pastoral care.
Lighthouse Congregations
Local churches in The North Carolina Conference that are equipped and willing to be a caring and hospitable place that welcomes anyone whose church has closed or disaffiliated.
Membership
If the church where you hold membership is disaffiliating, and you haven’t found a new place to call “home,” we invite you to move your membership to The United Methodist Collective of North Carolina. This is a place to hold your membership “in the meantime.” Once you complete the form, the conference will receive your church membership and notify your current church.
Giving to The UM Collective
If you are interested in continuing your discipline of giving tithes or offerings, you may make a contribution to support this initiative or future initiatives related to co-creating new faith communities across our Conference.
Lighthouse Congregations
Whether you are an individual or a group of people who have become displaced or disconnected because of a closing or disaffiliation, Lighthouse Congregations will be there for you during this difficult time. As you consider what is next for you, specific pathways for you to choose from will continue to emerge as the Conference, Districts, and local churches come together to be The Connection at its best.
Facebook Connection
Engage with other United Methodists in similar situations in a safe, closed Facebook Group. Whether providing virtual pastoral care or providing a platform for idea-sharing, this group is meant to be a connection point as you journey toward “what’s next.”
Virtual Worship Services
Find a virtual worship and discipleship experience to meet your needs at one of the many North Carolina Conference churches ready to welcome you online. Advent worship services (Traditional and Contemporary Style services) from NC UMCs can be found in our closed Facebook group.
If you are not on Facebook, you can email us at umcollective@nccumc.org to request resources for worship.
