Clergy Mentors
Certified lay ministers serve as a part of a team, which includes the mutual ministry team (3-5 members of the congregation where the CLM serves), a supervising clergy mentor, and the district superintendent.

Role of Clergy Mentors:
- Help the CLM candidate in the discernment process to understand the ministry needs and the gifts and graces of the CLM candidate.
- Participate in forming the ministry covenant with the CLM and the mutual ministry team.
- Ensure a collaborative relationship with the district superintendent for mission and ministry through the CLM and mutual ministry team.
- Help ensure the CLM can function in his/her areas of responsibility.
- Help develop and shape the CLM for mission and ministry in a formative relational process.
Duties of Clergy Mentors:
- Be available for regular meetings with the CLM to provide spiritual direction and guidance.
- Be a resource for problem solving.
- Participate as an active member of the mutual ministry team.
- Respect the call of the CLM as a layperson, not on the track for ordination.
- Oversee the charge.
- Provide for sacramental ministry.
- Provide guidance and support as the CLM develops in their knowledge and skills for ministry.
