Certified Lay Servant
Are you feeling called to a deeper commitment to Christ and to your work as a layperson in your local church? The program for certified lay servants exists to prepare, equip, and support lay persons for ministry in their local church and community in a wide-variety of roles.
What is a Certified Lay Servant?
Lay servants are leaders in their local church and they serve in a wide-variety of capacities, from teaching Sunday school and coordinating prayer ministries to participating in prison ministries, outreach programs, and visitation. In short, certified lay servants are Christians, living out their calling to serve God and their neighbor, usually in a volunteer capacity.
In addition, certified lay servants participate in specialized training to develop skills in witnessing to the Christian faith through spoken communication, church and community leadership, and care-giving ministries.
