Celebrating and Exploring the Call of Laity

Posted on

The NC Conference Lay Servant Ministries Committee is supporting laity as they discern next steps in ministry, and there are still opportunities to participate.

On Saturday, May 2, forty laity gathered in the NC Conference office in Garner for a Day of Discovery focused on exploring how laity are called to ministry. We worshipped together, listened to stories of laity living out their call in a variety of settings, and learned about the different pathways available to laity through Lay Servant Ministries.

We closed the day with an information session on our upcoming Certified Lay Ministry Candidate Training Program, where past and current participants shared how the cohort experience supported their formation and discernment, and offered a glimpse of how this program forms laity for defined, accountable roles in ministry carried out in teams alongside clergy and congregations.

Want to join the conversation?

If you were not able to join us in person, there is still time to join the conversation and explore your next steps in ministry.

Exploring Your Calling: An Online Introduction to Lay Servant Ministries
Thursday, May 14 | 6:30–8pm | Zoom

Like the Day of Discovery, this online gathering will offer an introduction to Lay Servant Ministries, space to reflect on your sense of call, and opportunities to connect with others who are discerning next steps in ministry.

The final portion of the call will focus on the CLM Candidate Training Program for those who are considering applying to the 2026-2027 Cohort. If you are interested in learning more, we encourage you to attend the Zoom session or contact our team at lsm@nccumc.org.
