Have you ever wondered about the difference between a certified lay servant, certified lay speaker, and certified lay minister? Do you feel a nudge to do more, but aren’t sure where you fit?
Your Lay Servant Ministries team invites you to join us for a Day of Discovery—a time to explore the many ways laity can answer their call in the United Methodist Church. Whether you’re just beginning to sense God’s call or actively seeking your next step, this day is for you!
Date: Saturday, May 31, 10am – 2pm*
Location: NC Conference Building (Garner)
Cost: $15, includes lunch
*There will also be an optional information session on certified lay ministry, 2pm-3pm.
What to Expect
- Worship & Renewal – We’ll begin with a time of worship, led by Fairway District Superintendent Sunny Limm, grounding ourselves in our shared call through a remembrance of our baptism.
- Stories & Inspiration – Hear from laity who have stepped into different forms of ministry and discover what opportunities might be right for you.
- Discernment & Next Steps – Engage in a time of reflection on your spiritual gifts and where God may be leading you next, led by Certified Lay Minister Deborah Horton.
This event is open to all United Methodist laity in the NC Conference. There’s no pressure—just an opportunity to listen, learn, and take the next faithful step. Whether you’re feeling a gentle nudge or a clear call, we hope you’ll join us for this time of discovery and discernment.
