Across the NC Conference, members of local units have been finding creative ways to Move 4 Mission as part of the national initiative of the United Women in Faith organization. Women are encouraged to come together and find ways that all ages and stages can move in ways that raise funds for missions that serve women, children, and youth.
From the Holly Hill Mall in Burlington to Oak Island, women have been finding ways to put their love into action! Cedar Cliff and Cherry Point UWFaith units chose walking! Women of Cedar Cliff UMC and at least one infant walked the mall with purpose, and in Havelock, the community walked and prayed together with a mission.
Units from University UMC in Chapel Hill and Swansboro UMC, chose chair yoga as a new way to improve their overall health and raise funds that will serve women, children, and youth across the conference. Women from Ocean View UMC chose to rock a Sunday morning away as they, too, joined the efforts to share love by making it a verb!
The funds collected are divided up with 50% remaining with the local unit, 25% designated for district level missions, and the final 25% going to the national UWFaith organization for missions that reach far beyond the NC Conference.
March is the month the initiative kicked into full swing, but units across the NC Conference are being encouraged to continue MOVING right up until October. At the NC Conference UWFaith Annual Meeting on October 12, which will be held at St. Luke United Methodist Church in Sanford, there will be a spotlight on the many ways the United Women in Faith have moved with purpose this year!
Women can find out more and discover how to become part of this moving initiative at UWFaith.org. All units are encouraged to share their stories and pictures on the NC Conference UWFaith Facebook group page.
If your congregation’s women’s group is not yet connected with the United Women in Faith organization of the NC Conference, please reach out and let us help you put love into action as part of a greater family of women. We are always stronger and have a greater reach for the kin-dom when we work together with purpose and love.
