Resources to #BeUMC

The #BeUMC campaign reminds us of who we are at our best — the spirit-filled, resilient, connected, missional, faithful, diverse, deeply rooted, committed, disciple-making, Jesus-seeking, generous, justice-seeking, world-changing people of God called The United Methodist Church.

Each month we will offer resources for each of these characteristics of United Methodists. You may request to borrow these resources from the NC Conference Media Center and use them to connect your congregation to what it means to be United Methodist. The lists will include DVD studies, books, and curricula for all ages.

We also recommend that you use #BeUMC: A Discussion Guide published by Resource UMC to lead discussions within your church or small group. If your church identifies as traditionalist, consider using this detailed Bible study by the Rev. Dr. John Stephens titled A Study Series for Traditional United Methodists Who Long to Remain in The United Methodist Church. It is a free PDF download.

The General Commission on Archives and History offers a self-paced online course, Splits, Separations, and Reconciliations: Rooted in Wesleyan Grace, where you’ll learn the reasons behind, the context for, and about the leaders of the splits, separations, and reconciliations in our United Methodist heritage.
