The Beacon district LSM team is pleased to present this spiritual gifts course, open to all UMC laity. This course helps participants understand spiritual gifts and how the church can use them to fulfill its mission and ministry. Participants will also learn what it means to be a spiritual leader and will be equipped to lead others in exploring and using their spiritual gifts.
The Gateway District is pleased to offer this course, which is open to all laity. It’s a great opportunity to explore the many ways laypersons can live out their call to ministry in the United Methodist Church. This course is also a required step for anyone pursuing certification as a lay servant, lay speaker, or lay minister.
The Beacon district LSM team is pleased to present this course open to all laity. In addition, it meets the UM History requirement for those seeking to become certified lay speakers or certified lay ministers. This course also counts as an “advanced course” for certified lay servants or anyone in need of continuing education to renew their certification.
The Harbor district LSM team is pleased to present this course, open to all laity. Aging and Ministry counts as an advanced course to become a certified lay servant or to renew any LSM certification. All are welcome!
The Capital district is pleased to offer this course, which is open to all laity. It’s a great opportunity to explore the many ways laypersons can live out their call to ministry in the United Methodist Church. This course is also a required step for anyone pursuing certification as a lay servant, lay speaker, or lay minister. Note that it takes place on Monday evenings for 90 minutes sessions for six weeks. You must attend all sessions to receive course credit!
The Fairway district LSM team is pleased to present this preaching course, open to all UMC laity. This course will expand upon basic public speaking and the foundations necessary for preparing an engaging sermon. Included are various types of sermons – from exegetical to topical to children’s sermons – as well as how to find a story, use the hymnal, and how to move from communication on paper to beyond the paper
The Harbor district LSM team is pleased to present this course, open to all UMC laity. Anyone who is called upon to lead public prayer may feel anxious and possibly inadequate for such a task. This course offers help for novices as well as veteran leaders of prayer as they create and deliver appropriate prayers in public settings.
The Sound district LSM presents this course that helps lay servants understand and communicate the key role played by local churches in nourishing the spiritual lives of college students through campus ministries. Note that it takes place on Tuesday evenings for 120 minutes sessions for four weeks. You must attend all sessions to receive course credit!
The Beacon district Lay Servant Ministries team presents Life Together in the UM Connection. This advanced course meets the polity requirement for those who wish to become certified lay speakers or certified lay ministers. It also counts as an advanced course for certified lay servants and renewals. All are welcome!
