Considering a Call to Certified Lay Ministry?

Posted on

God is still calling laypeople into meaningful, transformative ministry within and beyond the local church—and certified lay ministry (CLM) may be your next faithful step.

A new CLM cohort begins September 27, and applications are due by August 29. This pathway is for United Methodist laity ready to make a deeper, sustained commitment to leadership in the local church.

If you’re wondering where God may be leading you, join us for the Day of Discovery on May 31, 10am–2pm. This invitational event is for anyone discerning a call to deeper ministry—through CLM or other avenues. A CLM Info Session will follow from 2–3pm. While not required, attending is strongly encouraged for those considering the cohort.

Wondering how else you can prepare?

This summer is a great time to complete the three prerequisite courses required for CLMs.

  1. June 21 – Basic Course in Lay Servant Ministries* (Zoom)
  2. July 19 – Life Together in the United Methodist Connection(Zoom)
  3. August 16 – Living Our United Methodist Beliefs (Zoom)

Already taken them? No need to repeat. Missing one? This is your chance to fill the gap—without leaving home.

Prefer in-person learning? Gateway District is also offering the Basic Course on August 9 in Fayetteville.
