Our hearts and prayers continue to be with the people in Western NC Conference as they begin the long road to recovery from Hurricane Helene. In Eastern North Carolina, we understand the devastating impact natural disasters have on our communities and the long road to recovery.
While we have not had significant damage following Hurricane Helene in Eastern North Carolina, many communities are still recovering from Hurricane Florence and have not been able to receive assistance yet. To support these ongoing efforts, we recently received a $10,000 grant from the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) that allows us to assist families in Columbus County who are still in need following multiple hurricanes.
Thanks to the generosity of UMCOR, we are opening a center in Columbus County to support families as they begin their recovery. Beginning October 30, 2024, we will need teams to assist with repairs, tarp roofs, and mold treatment. Housing for teams will be available, and day teams are also welcome to join.
If you are interested in serving, please contact our Call Center at 888-440-9167 or disaster@nccumc.org.
Thank you for your support of disaster relief efforts across North Carolina. Together, we can provide a caring Christian presence in the aftermath of disaster.
