The American Red Cross has awarded the North Carolina Conference Disaster Ministries a Continuation (Phase 2) grant in the amount of $400,000. In a recent update, we shared that the Red Cross had awarded Disaster Ministries a $250,000 grant, which we are using to provide funding for 50 clients. The additional funds will be used to provide funding for another 80 clients, bringing the total to 130 clients.
The $650,000 in total grant money will be used to fund efforts in Robeson, Brunswick, Columbus, Pender, and Onslow Counties, and make it possible to add new clients in Cumberland County as well. Grant money will go toward recovery and rebuilding efforts, and also include funds for unmet needs.
In a letter accompanying the grant request, Al Miller, Director of Disaster Ministries, said “We appreciate the opportunity that the American Red Cross has given us with our first grant. The American Red Cross program has been with us step by step in developing strong relationships with those most affected. North Carolina Conference Disaster Ministries looks forward to not only continuing our partnership but also expanding our boundaries together.”
