In this online session with Ashley, we’ll learn about how early Methodists embraced a ‘submission to be more vile’ in order to spread the love of God in places most unexpected. During this time, you’ll hear about the origin of the name ‘Methodist’ and what our founder, John Wesley, intended for us as the people called ‘Methodist.’
In this webinar with Ashley and Chris, we’ll examine a new Wesleyan Quadrilateral, the “practical quad.” We’ll review how Wesley implemented these four steps (or “method”) to grow the movement across England and how it led to extreme growth in the United States. This will include practical applications for growing churches today!
The key to effective leadership is the ability to be a non-anxious presence. This is not a technique. It’s a way of being. It is deceptively simple, yet tremendously difficult. Our congregations need this kind of leadership now, more than ever.
In a season of major change in the church when the familiar ways of funding and doing ministry are declining – we aren’t broke. There are many resources in the church that we can put to work in new ways to serve and engage our neighborhoods and generate new forms of revenue for ministry. Rev. Mark Elsdon will share practical suggestions and stories that build imagination and suggest new ways forward. We will talk about new uses of church buildings and land, social enterprise, and creative ways to put our assets to work in the world for God. Because God is not declining; and we aren’t broke.
When a church has a lead/associate pastor team or staff members, how does everyone agree on vision and mission? How much room does each person have to live into ministry? How much direction should a lead/senior pastor give and how much freedom? All, and more, contribute to the “get along factor” – how well lead/senior pastors build relationships with other staff, especially appointed associates.
Children are fully capable of leading in worship, yet it often takes intentional effort from adults to nurture their gifts.
