Join the NC Conference Discipleship Coaching Cohort!

The Evangelism and Discipleship Committee invites you to join an NC Conference discipleship coaching cohort, facilitated by Jason Zebert

Location: Online via Zoom (link will be provided after registration).

Discipleship coaching equips leaders to help others grow in faith through intentional conversation, listening, and encouragement. The training includes:

  • Practical coaching skills focused on discipleship
  • Coaching models and assessment tools
  • Hands-on practice
  • Growth opportunities for clergy and laity with a heart for helping others grow in faith
  • Tools to help leaders develop discipleship pathways and strengthen relationships with newcomers and congregants

Upon completing the full program, participants will receive a certificate from Discipleship Ministries for 12 hours (1.2 CEUs).

  • Small group leaders, Stephen Ministers, and congregational care leaders
  • Hospitality and welcome teams 
  • Trained coaches who want to sharpen their discipleship coaching skills
  • Anyone—clergy or laity—who wants to help others deepen their discipleship

If you register, please purchase Disciple Like Jesus by Phil Maynard, available on Amazon, Cokesbury, Market Square Books, and the EMC3 website. Participants are asked to read this book prior to Module 3. EMC3 offers alternate dates on their website to attend one missed session.

Discipleship Coaching Training Schedule

Module 1: April 30 | 6–9 pm
Module 2: May 7 | 6–9 pm
Module 3: May 14 | 7–8:30 pm
Deep Dive 1: May 21 | 7–8:30 pm
Deep Dive 2: May 28 | 7–8:30 pm
Deep Dive 3: June 4 | 7–8:30 pm

All sessions are on Thursdays (ET). Participants must attend all sessions to receive a certificate. In case of one schedule conflict, EMC3 has offered alternate dates to attend one missed session; a list of those dates can be viewed on their website.

About the Facilitator

Dr. Jason Zebert is a United Methodist clergyperson and an Associate Certified Coach from Mississippi. He currently serves as Assistant Director of Faith Community Formation and Director of Special Projects for the Mississippi Conference. In this role, he helps to resource new faith communities and transform existing faith communities in this challenging time. He oversees the conference’s coaching, mentoring, leadership development programs, and Healing Teams training.

He is a master trainer for Lead Like Jesus, a Way of the Carpenter facilitator, a certified SYMBIS facilitator, a Biblical DISC/DISC coach, and a trained adaptive change coach. He finds reward in helping others to discover their identity and giftedness in Christ and helping them to engage those gifts with their communities.
