988 is a new phone number active in the United States to connect people to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. The previous number (1-800-273-8255) will remain available to access mental health crisis services.

Veteran callers can dial 988 and Press 1 when prompted to access the Veterans Crisis Line.
