In the prophetic book The Land is Not Empty: Following Jesus in Dismantling the Doctrine of Discovery, author Sarah Augustine, a Pueblo woman, reframes the colonization of North America. She investigates ways that the Doctrine of Discovery continues to devastate indigenous cultures, and even the planet itself, as it justifies exploitation of both natural resources and people.
In this Book Talk & Workshop, we will hear directly from Augustine about several of the key ideas in her book, take time to process and reflect together, and conclude our session with a Q+A. You are not required to read the book prior to registering for this session.
This event is hosted by United Women in Faith. There is no cost to participate. All are welcome. Space is limited and registration is accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
