Followers of Jesus are called to examine their own discipleship by using Mark’s description of Jesus’ disciples as a mirror. According to this Gospel, Jesus’ disciples weren’t all that good at their calling, but he doesn’t give up on them, even at the low point of Mark’s story. There is hope for Jesus-followers beyond the worst of failures. A disciplined reading of Mark’s gospel will give you a non-judgmental opportunity to reflect on your own walk with Jesus, in company of others doing the same.
In addition to Blackboard interactions there will be a required three-hour Zoom session on Tuesday evening from 6:30 – 9:30 eastern time. It will not be recorded. In that session, we will review participants’ Discussion Board work from Monday; then move on to a curated reading of the hinge of Mark’s story. We will continue reading through Mark’s story of Jesus teaching his disciples as they travel toward Jerusalem.
