The Center for Leadership Excellence invites you to an inspiring and practical webinar, Designing Disability Ministry, on October 7. Through a combination of storytelling and research, this webinar will equip those who lead ministries with children and youth to create truly accessible ministry environments.

To support your efforts, the Disability Ministries Committee of The United Methodist Church offers a collection of resources designed specifically for local churches. Here are a few highlights you can start using right away:
UMC Accessibility Audit
Now available as a fillable PDF, this updated tool helps you assess your church’s accessibility. Score at least 85% at each level and earn a digital badge to display on your website—an easy way to let potential visitors know your church is a welcoming and inclusive community.
Accessibility Tip: Accessible Restrooms on a Budget
Having a single accessible family restroom will meet many needs, especially if a spouse or parent of the opposite gender needs to assist a family member. This PDF will help you create functional access if you are unable to afford a full ADA remodel.
Planning Accessible Events
Make your next church event more welcoming with the Event Accessibility Planning and Set-up Checklist. After the event, gather feedback using the Post Event Survey – Accessibility and Accommodations Survey to keep improving your hospitality and inclusion.
Guide Dog and Service Animal Guidelines and Etiquette
Qualified service animals are to be welcomed in all aspects of church life, including worship and fellowship times. These working animals have undergone extensive training, and you should barely notice they are present. This PDF will help your church understand how to host these working animals respectfully.
Safer Sanctuaries
Has your church updated its Safe Sanctuaries policies to address the unique needs of vulnerable adults? This PDF flyer introduces guidance from the latest edition of Safer Sanctuaries: Nurturing Trust in Faith Communities to help your church extend care and protection to all.
Dos and Don’ts for Disability Allyship
This PDF is a quick and powerful resource to share with your leadership team, small groups, or disability ministry committee.
