This looks great as Percy “Pat” has already said! Will there be a place for Chaplains to post opportunities and needs to a bulletin board here? Please don’t forget us too!

Thanks Chaplain Hoyle, you have a great suggestion !
We are just beginning to see more and more requirements for our CJAMM face to the world ! Yes somewhere somehow we’ll get up an INPUT form to collect/post just such requirements.
Thanks for your interest . . . sorry my response took so long ! Keep in touch with these evolving pages.

    After prison then what?
John Wesley defined true religion as love shed abroad in our hearts, as love for God and neighbor. Wesley considered regular visitations of and friendship with the poor and imprisoned as essential to discipleship. I’ve been working with various organizations in Raleigh, trying to help in reforming ex-offenders. I became discouraged on Monday because for the last three years, I’ve seen the same people dragging their bags living in the Women’s Center, Helen Wright Center and on the streets. O’ I pray that as a church we’ve not forgotten that, “There go I but for the grace of God.”
We must continue to work toward making a difference for these people!

I was very impressed with a presentation by Pat Ford at the Connenectional Table Meeting. The information revealed some shocking news about the rising increase in the prison populations and recidivism. I give thanks to Bishop Gwinn for allowing us to make this presentation for the purpose of elevating awareness to our churches about # 1. an opportunity for involvement, # 2. the call and mandate from God, # 3. and a reminder that United Methodist are rooted and grounded in a Christian faith tradition which sees the world holistically and globally – as a field for service and witness, caring and advocacy. A people motivated by the Wesleyan spirit of biblical reflection and faith-in-action. Linda Harris, Chairperson NC Advisory Board for Prisons and Prison Reform

    Pat,
That you for the beautiful story – faith in action from the McMannen UMC Faith in Action team. Very heartwarming.
