CYC (Conference Youth Committee) is a subset of CCYM (Conference Council on Youth Ministries), which plans our Conference Youth Events for the year, and serves as the youth design team members for at least one of
those events. Officers also serve on committees of both our youth
ministry and on (adult) committees of the NC Annual Conference. As members of both CYC and CCYM, youth represent their churches, districts, and peers throughout the Conference in making decisions about the events that Conference Youth Ministry sponsors all year.

CYC positions available are President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary,
Freshmen Representatives, Junior High Representatives, CYC District Representatives, and CYC Members-at-Large.

The 23 members of the CYC meet August 7-9, for a planning retreat, as well as the September and January CCYM meetings (each on a Saturday). They are also members to Annual Conference next June.

Students must be present at Summer Breakaway to be elected to CYC. Those running for President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and
LAP must give a speech before the entire student body. Those running for
election as a Junior High Representative or Freshmen Representative must give a speech before the middle school student body. Everyone running for election to any position on CYC must have a pastor’s recommendation completed before they come to Breakaway.
