All staff must have a pastor’s recommendation from the current pastor of the United Methodist Church or United Methodist Campus Ministry of which you are currently an active member. Clergy will need a recommendation from their current district superintendent.
New staff need a new recommendation when they first apply and returning staff need an updated recommendation every two years. If you did not get a new/updated recommendation in 2025, you will need one for 2026.
In cases of larger congregations where another pastor, youth director or other church staff member may be more familiar with your involvement in youth ministry, that person’s recommendation will be acceptable in place of the senior pastor.
