The mission spirit is alive and well among UMC young people! Leadership skills are encouraged at all levels of mission engagement. Every person on the team can have a voice in decision-making and take responsibility for part of the mission journey planning. As United Methodist Volunteers in Mission (UMVIM) celebrates 50 years of ministry, a new initiative is underway.
UMVIM is announcing the Train 100 program, offering incentives to new mission team leaders under 35. Our goal is to train 100 young team leaders to help create a new generation of volunteers by the end of 2026.
As part of this effort, UMVIM Jurisdictional Offices will provide:
- No-cost Team Leader Training sessions
- Welcome Kit, including a Team Leader Handbook and Journal
- Insurance administration costs waived for the first team led by the new Team Leader
- Personalized help and connections from UMVIM.
Those interested can contact the Jurisdictional UMVIM Director, the Rev. Matt Lacey, at matt_lacey@umvim.org, or the North Carolina Conference UMVIM Coordinator, the Rev. Miles Baker Hunt, at umvim@nccumc.org.
