St. James UMC and Harlowe UMC in Newport are serving students at West Carteret High School through their Migrant Student Mentoring Program.
Rev. Joseph Park said, “We resumed our mentoring program this spring with seven volunteers from St. James UMC and Harlowe UMC. Each Wednesday, we go to work with migrant high school students for about an hour. Starting with a time of fellowship over snacks, we split up the kids in groups by the number of volunteers so they can get the needed attention and assistance for their homework or English practice.”
