Our last website upgrade was in 2014. Whoa! Yes, the site has had a few iterations since then, but the bulk of the site was the same. For this update, we set out to make a significant change.
We wanted to remove any outdated content (that we’d been carrying since switching to WordPress in 2009), simplify actions, like navigation and search, make the site look less cluttered, and migrate to a new host.
Welcome to phase one of the new nccumc.org! Take a look at some of the features below.
Unified Navigation
The most considerable difference you’ll notice is the new unified navigation menu. Click or tap on the red circle icon on the top or bottom right of the screen to open up the menu. You’ll find easy access to ministries, events, resources, etc.
Previously, when visiting the site on mobile devices, you wouldn’t know exactly where you were when browsing the site. We’ve made this clear in this new version by always making the ministry name visible from the top of the page. Are you looking to go back to the main home page of nccumc.org? Click or tap the Cross & Flame icon.
Not only that, but when you open the navigation menu, you’ll find both the ministry-specific menu, called Site Navigation and the Main Navigation.
New Host
We hosted our website internally before, so our website could go down quickly if the power went out at the Conference office. We now host our site externally, eliminating this issue! Yay!
Behind the Scenes
A lot of work went into some organizational details that you won’t necessarily see up front, but rest assured that it will help us keep the site organized, show relevant information appropriately, and enjoy some more recent technology updates.
Final Thoughts
We know we probably missed some things during the migration, so please don’t hesitate to let us know by emailing support@nccumc.org if you can’t find a file or encounter any problems on the site. Thank you for your patience as we work through any quirks.
And, hey, if there’s something you like, let us know that too! 😀
We hope you enjoy the new site and features!
