Join us as we reflect on 1 Kings 19:12-13…
12 and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a sound of sheer silence. 13 When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave. Then there came a voice to him that said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”
We will gather on Saturday from 9:15 am – 4:00 pm. We will enjoy a taste of the Academy rhythms of study and prayer, silence and liturgy, solitude and relationship, rest and play. And we will be challenged as we learn from our presenter Grace Imathiu who will share with us on the topic of “Hearing the Still Small Voice in the Midst of Chaos”. You do not want to miss out on this opportunity to gather with old and new friends for this retreat held in person and via zoom.
Rev. Grace Imathiu has served as Senior Pastor of First United Methodist Church in Evanston, Illinois since July 2018. In addition to serving churches in Illinois and Wisconsin, she has served as a church planter in Kenya, as a superintendent overseeing 68 rural churches in Nkubu, and as an urban minister to an ecumenical congregation in Nairobi. Pastor Grace is a citizen of the world for whom “the world is her parish.” An African who is married to a European and raising an American son, Grace is fluent in three languages, and was educated in Kenya, England, Israel, and the United States.
