Voices from the Field: Toward Health and Wholeness: National Mission Institutions Champion Mental and Emotional Well-Being (United Women in Faith)

May 14 @ 4:00 pm

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Research shows that over the past 15 years, the mental well-being of youth has significantly declined. Higher levels of stress and anxiety generally have led to the overwhelming perception that there is a “mental health crisis” in the United States. Whether the need has grown, or our awareness of it has increased, National Mission Institutions continue to respond to needs in their communities by expanding mental health services, particularly for youth and families. Hear from representatives of Cunningham Children’s Home in Illinois and AK Child & Family in Alaska about their growing mental health services for youth and families, from residential care to community-based programs. Learn how trauma-informed approaches grounded in spiritual care are giving youth and families hope for the future, and how the financial gifts of United Women in Faith help make this happen.

The quarterly Voices from the Field events feature leaders sharing their work and life stories, daily challenges, hopes, and dreams. This conversation series highlights United Women in Faith’s initiatives supported by Mission Giving—initiatives that significantly improve the lives of women, children, and youth down the block and around the world.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. Please save the confirmation; it contains your personal link to the event.
