$ Self-Compassion and the Election: How to Stay Grounded in your Best Self (Claremont School of Theology)

October 5 @ 12:00 pm 3:30 pm

Join us for this half-day online workshop on staying true to yourself during these challenging political times.

During this election cycle, what if…

What if there is a way to ease our own anxiety and feel more grounded?
What if there is a way to address our own anger and lead with a calm confidence?
What if there is a way to respond not from fear, but from our own sacred wisdom?
What if there is a way to meet these challenges with one’s deepest values and best self?

This is the way of the Compassion Practice, which starts with self-compassion.

Gather with us to explore and experience the Compassion Practice — a counterintuitive and countercultural tool that tends to our internal upheaval, and restores us to our Best Self. It was created by Co-Host Dr. Frank Rogers, Jr., and his colleagues at the Center for Engaged Compassion, and is beautifully documented in Frank’s book Practicing Compassion.

The election will not save us. No matter who wins , our country’s problems will persist until we face the origin of our pain. The way forward requires we first go inward, and the Compassion Practice shows us how.

Through rich storytelling, practical teaching, and contemplative exercises, Frank and Elizabeth will guide you through this practice on how to stay grounded in your Best Self through the election cycle, and beyond.
