Sacred Conversations: Wholly Sacred and Beautifully Ordinary: Water (NC Council of Churches)

February 11, 2022 @ 11:00 am 12:00 pm

“A drop of water, if it could write out its own history, would explain the universe to us.” – Lucy Larcom

Join us for the first of four Environment, Health and Faith focused Sacred Conversations.  For this first Sacred Conversations: Wholly Sacred and Beautifully Ordinary: Water, we will explore the use of water in religious rituals and our everyday lives. We will ask questions such as  “If water is used symbolically in rituals such as baptism to represent purification, what does it mean if that water is not safe for use?” What happens when we care for our communities, but not everyone has access to clean, safe, water? What happens when the water in our communities is linked to harm? (Remember Flint)”

Partners in Health and Wholeness is excited about this new pilot project and offering the opportunity for faith communities to explore the intersections of environment, faith and health. During this Sacred Conversations we’ll introduce the team from our partners. They include interns from Shaw University’s Inaugural Citizen Science Internship Program, as well as, the team from NC State University’s Citizen Hub and online citizen science program. Learn more about the mini-grant opportunity for faith communities that participate in the pilot. Citizen Science – NC Council of Churches (ncchurches.org)
