QPR Suicide Prevention Training for Faith Leaders (RAFI & Farmer Veteran Coalition)

Recurring event see all

December 5 @ 10:30 am 12:30 pm

QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer — the 3 simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from
suicide. Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year,
people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question,
persuade, and refer someone to help. Each year thousands of Americans, like you, are saying “Yes” to saving
the life of a friend, colleague, sibling, or neighbor.
As a QPR-trained Gatekeeper you will learn to:

– Learn the 3 simple steps of Question, Persuade and Refer.

– Recognize the warning signs of suicide

– Know how to offer hope

Length of training one hour and 30 minutes with an additional optional 30 minutes for role playing and more time for Q & A
Note: Only one training is required to become a QPR certified gatekeeper. Different dates and times in order to
accommodate different schedules.
Farmer Veteran Coalition with the support of RAFI – Rural Advancement Foundation International – USA is
pleased to offer these QPR training opportunities to Faith Leaders. FVC has provided over 70 QPR training
and follow-up debriefing opportunities to help anyone to provide assistance in suicide prevention. During the
training, we will also provide information as to why farmers and veterans are more vulnerable to suicide. For
many people QPR is a very accessible way to receive an introduction to suicide prevention. Together we can
help prevent suicide.
Faith Leaders who graduate from QPR will be offered the opportunity to participate in QPR Debriefs for Faith
Leaders.
