If you are concerned that your church isn’t changing lives the way it could, Matt Lake will share a proven and tested discipleship approach to developing a pipeline for normal people to grow into the image of Christ.
Dates: September 11, 18, 25 from 2-4 Eastern
1: Discovering Discipleship By Embracing Tensions–Observing the World and ChurchIn this first workshop we will focus on observing the context in which we find ourselves so that we can take appropriate next steps forward in discipleship. We will begin to explore why discipleship really matters and then how we can reverse discipleship decline by living into a multi-layered approach to discipleship. Utilizing the tensions found between the strengths of macro/micro approaches, gathered and sent mindsets, and various spiritual offices you will discover specific tools to improve your discipleship culture.
2: Discovering Discipleship By Embracing Tensions–Observing IndividualsIn this second workshop we will do a deep dive into observing each individual’s gifts, passions, and spiritual wirings to gain new clues about what discipleship in their life may look like. Unlike traditional discipleship approaches, these learnings will not lead to a programmatic understanding of spiritual gifts. Rather the surveying will lay the foundation for the application of discipleship in catalytic and new ways as we begin to make interpretations based on the observations.
3: Discovering Discipleship By Embracing Tensions–Interpreting and Taking ActionIn this final workshop we will take everything that has been learned and observed in the first two sessions and filter those findings through the tensions of formal vs. informal, deep vs. new, believe vs. behavior, and gathered vs. sent. This approach will help any individual and any church not only discover where it needs to grow in discipleship but also how to move into deeper discipleship. This approach will also help individuals and entire congregations discover discipleship alignment in their lives. This is an approach that any congregation no matter how large or small, healthy or unhealthy, old or young can utilize.
