$ Organizing Care: Collective Healing for Black & Brown People (Claremont School of Theology)

September 6 @ 9:30 am 3:00 pm

Forces that harm Black and Brown people are widespread. Yet, there are resources built from the strengths of Black and Brown people that can nurture our healing. These resources include storytelling, the arts, institutional culture building, raising our consciousness, creating policies and practices that care for the marginalized, and rituals.

However, too often, people live and work in isolation and don’t have the collective power necessary to nurture our healing. This online event utilizes a community organizing approach and the arts to nurture lifegiving community and healing for Black and Brown people. Artists, scholars, mental health professionals, clergy, youth, faith communities, grassroots communities, and community organizers will gather to build caring community. Presenters will share resources for nurturing healing for Black and Brown people from decolonial and postcolonial perspectives. We will be organizing ourselves to care deeply for Black and Brown people.
