Faith Talks on Mental Health Awareness Month (United Women in Faith)

May 16 @ 2:00 pm

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and Faith Talks will facilitate a discussion highlighting the intersection of mental health and disability rights. Our next live recording of the podcast will be on Thursday, May 16, at 2:00 p.m. ET.

We are keen to focus on the ways racism impacts one’s mental health journey, and further endangers persons who are differently abled. We’ll examine what’s happening in schools with regards to students with disabilities and the loss of innocence of young people of color. My guests include Dara Baldwin, who will discuss her forthcoming book To Be a Problem: A Black Woman’s Survival in the Racist Disability Rights Movement. I’ll also interview Kristin Henning, author of Rage of Innocence, and Cheryl Poe, executive director of Advocating 4 Kids, Inc.
