$ Shaping the Final Chapter: Unfinished Business (Iliff School of Theology)

February 1 @ 2:00 pm 3:00 pm

We all hope to be remembered well and to reach the end of our lives with a sense that we have done all we wished to do. But what about the things left incomplete? How can we prepare ourselves and our loved ones for the unfinished pieces left when we are gone? Iliff alum Rev. Dr. Lorraine Leist will share findings from her doctoral research regarding how people considering their mortality cope with and make meaning out of unfinished life tasks when preparing for a good death. She will lead a brief exercise enabling attendees to reflect on limitations to completing life and facilitate discussion about addressing unfinished business.  She will also explore the concept of a ‘good death’ and encourage participants to consider diverse perspectives about the end of life.

Presenter: Dr. Lorraine Leist

Rev. Dr. Lorraine Leist, DMin, MDiv, BCC-PCHAC, is currently working as the Associate Pastor for Congregational Care and Older Adults at Montview Presbyterian Church in Denver, CO.  Prior to this, Lorraine worked as an advanced board-certified palliative care chaplain in Colorado and Washington.  Lorraine received a B.A. from Wellesley College and a Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from the Iliff School of Theology.  Lorraine is passionate about helping people embrace their final season of life with dignity and grace.
