Dr. Dowell received her bachelor’s degree in Biology from Loyola University and later, her Medical Degree from the University of Illinois after which she completed her Pediatric Residency at the University of Chicago. Dr. Dowell currently serves as a primary care physician and Site Medical Director at the Homan Square branch of the Lawndale Christian Health Center. In addition to serving as a domestic medical missionary at Lawndale, Dr. Dowell serves as a medical missionary to Haiti as part of El Shaddai Ministry’s “Haiti Orphan Project”. During these missions, Dr. Dowell, along with other medical and nonmedical personnel bring medical care along with the Gospel, to orphanages and their surrounding communities in remote areas of Haiti. Dr. Dowell also serves on the Board of Directors for the Ibi People’s Clinic in Nigeria, Africa.
Locally, Dr. Dowell serves on the board of directors for, and was actively involved with the founding of The Field School of Chicago, a multicultural Christian elementary school on the Westside of Chicago. She has also been actively involved with CCHF (Christian Community Health Fellowship) for several years, and served as a member of its board of directors as well.
Dr. Dowell has been a servant to children and their families nearly all of her life and believes strongly in education. Prior to attending medical school, she served as a high school Science teacher for Chicago Public Schools. God has now graciously given her the privilege of blending her love of teaching with her medical training to encourage, educate and empower patients, families and other Believers regarding their health.
