As we prepare for Spring and hope for safe opportunities for our small groups to re-gather, there are several great studies for women’s groups that are coming soon or were published recently. Consider these options as you plan upcoming studies.
Newest Studies
Simple and Free: 7 Experiments Against Excess by Jen Hatmaker. This book study is a new version of Jen’s 2012 DVD study, The 7 Experiment: Staging Your Own Mutiny Against Excess. The new version is written not just for readers of faith but for everyone who craves a gentler, simpler life. Now annotated throughout with new reflections from the author, Jen offers thoughtful insights as she reflects on the vastly different world of Simple and Free back when it was first published as 7, and considers the dramatically different space she occupies now.

We will see the big picture of God’s love for us, discover that God wants a personal relationship with each one of us, and realize that God will never stop pursuing us.

Common Ground: Loving Others Despite Our Differences: A Study of Sibling Rivalries in the Bible by Amberly Neese. Learn to live at peace with others even when you disagree by studying biblical stories of rivalries. In this four-week study, author Amberly Neese combines stories of sibling rivalries from the Bible with personal experience, humor, hope, and her love of God’s Word to illustrate how we can have peace and reconciliation in all of our relationships—all while reassuring us that it’s possible to find common ground with everyone–despite our differences.

Recently Published
1 Corinthians: Searching the Depths of God by Jaime Clark-Soles. This study is not designed solely for women. Its teachings are for both women’s and mixed-gender groups. However, the author is a woman, Jaime Clark-Soles, who is a professor at Perkins School of Theology. In this six-week study, she explores Paul’s letter to the Corinthians that addressed many issues that our churches face today including factions, sexual immorality, gender issues, money concerns, theological questions, lawsuits, problems in worship, and problems in leadership.

Renewed: Finding Hope When You Don’t Like Your Story: Lessons from Naomi in the Book of Ruth by Heather M. Dixon. We hear that we can write our own stories, but life can happen. In the Book of Ruth, Naomi was forced to chart a new path even as she mourned the loss of her husband and two sons. Using Naomi’s story, this four-week women’s Bible study, teaches women to flourish through a willingness to trust that God can transform them and trade their heartache for hope.

Lose Control: The Way to Find Your Soul: A Bible Study of 1 Samuel by Mary Shannon Hoffpauir. Learn to live in total dependence on God through a study of 1 Samuel. Often, we think “God is in control” but we live like we are. This six-week Bible study helps us realize what little control we have and how dependent on God we truly are.

The Names of God: His Character Revealed: A Bible Study by Melissa Spoelstra. Know God better through a study of His names. In a world where we find people creating God in their own image, studying God’s names can remind us that we are created in His. In this six-week study, author Tiffany Bluhm encourages you to discover and follow your God-given dreams through the biblical story of Moses. It took a lifetime for Moses to live out his dream, but by holding onto hope and trusting God it came to pass. So, too, can the dreams God has planted in your heart.
