Basic Course – 6 Weeks
ZoomThe Capital district is pleased to offer this course, which is open to all laity. It’s a great opportunity to explore the many ways laypersons can live out their call to ministry in the United Methodist Church. This course is also a required step for anyone pursuing certification as a lay servant, lay speaker, or lay minister. Note that it takes place on Monday evenings for 90 minutes sessions for six weeks. You must attend all sessions to receive course credit!

A Shared Path Forward: Consensus Building in the Church
ZoomIn the church, we are called to be one in the body of Christ… how does that translate when we are sitting at a conference table trying to decide whether to build a new Sanctuary, where to allocate the budget, or who to hire to disciple our kids? It would be easy to “take a stand” on any one of these real-life decisions – but consensus building requires a different approach of deep listening, creativity, and a willingness to recognize Christ in one another…even when we don’t agree.
