The NC Conference creation care committee is happy to once again host the annual Season of Creation in September of this year!
Season of Creation is a month-long observance of God’s creation and our role therein. We encourage all churches and pastors to observe this time with us through worship, prayer, teaching, preaching and spending time with our Creator.
The creation care committee continues to offer you resources to take advantage of in your local setting, as well as opportunities for you to plug in with others around the Conference and around the globe. You can check out all of our videos from last year, and you can peruse our many online resources.
Season of Creation Worship Service
A special worship service will be held at St. Andrews United Methodist Church (1201 Maxwell Dr, Raleigh, NC 27603) on Thursday, September 1, at 7:00. Layperson Randy Senzig, leader of St. Andrews’ creation care ministry, will be preaching and sharing how a focus on creation care has revitalized the spiritual formation of many in his community. All are invited to join us in worship.
Doug Tallamy Webinar
We are excited about our webinar series this September, and while we are still working out some of the details of our upcoming opportunities, we couldn’t sit on this one any longer:
New York Times bestselling author Doug Tallamy will be joining us on September 20 at 7:00 for a webinar on Nature’s Best Hope.
Doug Tallamy is the T. A. Baker Professor of Agriculture in the Department of Entomology and Wildlife Ecology at the University of Delaware, where he has authored 106 research publications and has taught insect related courses for 41 years. Chief among his research goals is to better understand the many ways insects interact with plants and how such interactions determine the diversity of animal communities. His books include Bringing Nature Home, The Living Landscape, co-authored with Rick Darke, Nature’s Best Hope, a New York Times Best Seller, The Nature of Oaks, winner of the American Horticultural Society’s 2022 book award. In 2021 he cofounded Homegrown National Park with Michelle Alfandari. His awards include recognition from The Garden Writer’s Association, Audubon, The National Wildlife Federation, Allegheny College, The Garden Club of America and The American Horticultural Association.
This webinar is free of charge but does require registration in advance. Please follow this link to register.
