The purpose of Church Transformation Ministries is to help congregations in the NC Conference find the best path forward for strength and health in making disciples of Jesus Christ. In other words, we are empowering churches to be faithful now in order to have a fruitful future.
“We want to thrive – faithfully living as branches in the vine of Jesus Christ.”
Bishop Hope Morgan Ward
In John 15, Christ describes the connection essential for thriving and bearing fruit in ministry, and this vine and branches image helps us know the dynamic process of continual growth and transformation of God’s people.
We are confident that the Lord is always at work to provide for a good future for all churches. This work involves ongoing transformation, especially for churches who may have limited capacity for turnaround and sustainability.
Congregations desiring to clarify options may engage a “Fruitful Future” process or build consensus through a “Cooperative Community on Mission.”
We are bound in Christ through the UMC in a connection of interactive relationships; our annual conference’s mission is to make disciples and strengthen local churches.
Each of our several hundred churches is essential to our collective witness and mission. Together, by the grace of God, we can face our challenges and work for an increasingly healthy community of churches.
Now to God, who by the power at work within us is able to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine, to God be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, for ever and ever. Amen.
(Ephesians 3:20-21)
Through Church Transformation Ministries, we will help churches move into the future with greater strength, health, faithfulness and fruitfulness.
