Our approach to assisting congregations includes three potential paths forward:
Revitalization – Connecting with appropriate resources to explore various options and build on existing capacity for renewal, new growth, and fruitfulness.
Redevelopment – Collaborating with neighboring faith communities to gain strength and health together. In some cases, this may include partnerships with new faith communities.
Legacy – Carrying forward our church’s mission, passing along our purpose, and extending our ministry in a way that honors the past, celebrates the present, and provides for the upcoming generations of Christians.
The process of discerning the best path for each congregation involves three stages:
Clarity: Assess reality, life-cycle, capacity, and potential.
Consensus: Confirm a path forward.
Coordination: Finalize plan and implement.
Congregations in the NC Conference who would like to clarify options for finding the best path forward for strength and health in making disciples of Jesus Christ are invited to participate in the church transformation process.
