Our approach to assisting congregations is formed around three potential paths:
Redevelopment: Collaborating with others to gain strength and health together. This path is a great option for congregations possessing a willingness to identify, join, and live into healthy partnerships.
Revitalization: Building on existing internal capacity for renewal, new growth, and fruitfulness. This path is best suited for congregations with adequate capacity to overcome challenges, to include a strong lay leadership team with necessary gifts, skills, and availability.
Legacy Planning: Continuing your church’s legacy by passing along purpose and resources for future United Methodist churches and mission. Every congregation needs to consider their legacy. This path is a faithful option especially for congregations experiencing inability to overcome challenges and/or very limited capacity and resources.
All three paths are faithful and are to be celebrated. Also, creative combinations of these paths often enable new life and new faith communities to emerge.
