Bishop Connie Mitchell Shelton announces new Cabinet appointments for the North Carolina Conference, effective July 1, 2023.
Rev. David Blackman, current Beacon District Superintendent, moves to the Gateway District following the retirement of Rev. Dr. Kenneth Locklear.
Rev. Jon Strother, current Sound District Superintendent, expands his responsibilities to also include oversight of the Beacon District.
Rev. Sunny Limm, current pastor, Trinity UMC in Kinston, NC, joins the Cabinet as Fairway District Superintendent.
Rev. Dena White, current Fairway District Superintendent, moves to Ann Street UMC, Beaufort, NC.
A district superintendent (DS) acts as an extension of the Office of the Bishop, oversees the ministry of clergy and churches in their communities, and serves as Chief Missional Strategist for the Conference. With seven district superintendents overseeing eight districts, creativity and collaboration will be vital elements of leadership, now and in the future.
“These appointments evidence our continued commitment to strong leadership in the local church, a nimble Cabinet reflecting our value of diversity, and robust ministry as we ‘make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.’” – Bishop Connie Mitchell Shelton
