A vital part of our connectional life is our support of each other in the face of natural disasters. The Kentucky, Central Appalachian (formerly Red Bird), and North Carolina conferences have been blessed to be the recipients of many gifts from across our denomination in response to disasters in our areas.
This is our opportunity to “pay it forward.” This hits close to home, as I along with the Kentucky Annual Conference’s Appointive Cabinet and lay persons, with passion dancing in their eyes to help those who are hurting, find ourselves currently working in western Kentucky in the rebuilding phase of our work after the December tornado outbreak. We will also very soon make our way back to eastern Kentucky to serve there during the rebuilding phase following the horrific flooding in late July.
I am clearly reminded this week of the beauty and generosity of The United Methodist Church when a call goes out to support. I am calling on the people called United Methodist in North Carolina, Central Appalachia, and Kentucky to give generously to Hurricane Ian relief for Florida and South Carolina.
In Christ,
