Team Opening for ZOE Mission Team

Posted under: Alleviating Poverty and Hunger, Global Outreach, Missions

ZOE Ministry has a handful of slots open on two upcoming mission trips to Rwanda:

June 20-29
August 21-30

The trips will cost approximately $3,200 and will introduce missioners to ZOE’s remarkable orphan empowerment project.  This project equips orphans to live self-reliant, faith-filled lives within three years, thus breaking the cycles of poverty and dependency.

Prayer Request for ZOE Worker Halima Abduba

Posted under: Global Outreach, Missions

Halima Abduba has worked with the ZOE Orphan Empowerment project since its launch in Kenya in 2007. Thousands of orphans’ lives have been impacted through her ministry. Early Thursday morning, Halima’s husband died from complications related to diabetes. Although we rejoice in the promise of the resurrection for all Christians, we do join our hearts in grieving for this dear sister in Christ. Please pray for Halima and her teenage children, Augustine and Betty.

In His Grip,
Greg Jenks, Executive Director

World AIDS Day is December 1

World AIDS Day Ribbon

World AIDS Day, Dec. 1, commemorates the theme of universal access and human rights. Promotion and protection of human rights is vital in creating an effective HIV & AIDS response as we must empower individuals and communities to respond to the pandemic.

“The incidence and spread of HIV/AIDS are disproportionately high among groups who already suffer from a lack of human rights protection,” says the Program on International Health & Human Rights. Thus, as people of faith, we must break down the barriers of stigma and discrimination so that all persons feel safe and have access to treatment, testing, care, and support.

“I am living my rights” is a key slogan for World AIDS Day 2010. Campaign slogans, such as this year’s “Light for Rights,” are used to hold governments accountable for their HIV & AIDS-related commitments.

ZOE Ministry is one way we in the NC Conference have responded to the devastation of AIDS.  We have sought to care for the most vulnerable victims — the children.  ZOE Ministry represents your hands, feet, heart, and hope with children in Africa who have been so deeply affected by AIDS.  Learn more how you can join with this critical ministry please see ZOE – Empowering Orphans in Africa.

ZOE is part of the NC Conference Rainbow Covenant and is an Advance of the United Methodist Church.

ZOE – Hope for Christmas Animal Project – Give a Gift of Life!

Posted under: Alleviating Poverty and Hunger, Global Outreach

The gift of a rabbit toward sustainability and life.

This Christmas, give a gift that has a lasting effect on the life of an African orphan.  To a vulnerable child, the gift of an animal—a cow, pig, goat, chicken or rabbit—provides income, nourishment, even fertilizer for fields as they journey through ZOE Ministry’s Orphan Empowerment Project.
