Breakaway 2025 Recap: Wonder in the Desert

Posted on

The theme of Breakaway this year was Wonder in the Desert, focusing on discovering joy, faith, and connection even in the dry seasons of life. Each morning started with Morning Watch, an exciting start to our day with scripture, camp songs, and prayer. Each night we ended with Vespers, which helped us slow down and reflect on our many blessings from the day.

Every day had a different worship leader and a different scripture that shaped our time together. Worship was always powerful, from the music to the messages to the moments when you could just feel everyone leaning in together. The house band led us in songs that brought so much energy and meaning to the space and reminded us why we were here.

Each day, we gathered in our growth groups where we talked about worship, played games, and did different activities to help build friendships and grow closer together. These groups became a special part of the week and created spaces where people felt known and included. Some of the strongest connections from the week were from our growth groups!

Tuesday night, we had a super fun dance, where we were able to just have a great time! The room was full of laughter, singing, dancing, and good vibes all around. It was such a fun way to celebrate the week and spend time together!

Youth leaders, want to keep the momentum going?

Register your youth to attend Pilgrimage, a high-energy event with inspiring worship sessions, missions, and special events!

On Wednesday, we had our youth elections. We elected our five youth officers for the 2025 to 2026 year. Our youth Treasurer is Jenna Self, our youth Legislative Affairs Person is Ashleigh Moseley, our youth Secretary is Abigail Eliot, our youth Vice President is Emily Baker, and our youth President is Matthew Wong. We are so excited for this group of leaders and everything they will do this upcoming year!

On Thursday, we had our amazing talent show with around 20 acts! We saw singing, dancing, creative skits, and so many other fun and talented performances. It was such a great night where the youth got to share their gifts and support one another!

Throughout the week, we also had Legislative Affairs sessions where youth came together to learn about and discuss different topics that matter to them. By the end of the week, youth had passed 15 resolutions through those sessions! It was so incredible to see everyone get involved and use their voices in meaningful ways.

Friday night, we closed out the week with our final worship and Communion. This service is always such a special part of Breakaway and a chance to reflect on everything the week meant. Sharing Communion together was a powerful reminder that even in the desert, we are not alone.

Breakaway 2025 was an incredible week filled with worship, laughter, friendship, growth, and so much fun! Whether it was your first time at Breakaway or your last, this year reminded us that wonder can show up anywhere, even in the desert. We are so grateful for this community, and we are already counting down the days until next year!
