Ann Huffman

Ann is married with 2 sons and 4 grandchildren, & 2 great-grandchildren. She lives in Clayton and is a member of Christ the King UM & AMEZ Church.

Ann’s time with NCCUMC began in 1999, during disaster response and recovery following Hurricane Floyd. Prior to her work with the NC Conference, she was a Math Teacher in the NC Public school system for 17 years.

Ann’s involvement and leadership in Volunteer Coordination in the Disaster Call Center, on-site warehouse volunteer coordination, disaster warehousing & mission shipping logistics, and case management at the MERCI Center in Goldsboro have been invaluable. Her duties extended through Hurricanes Isabel, Nicole, Irene, Matthew, Florence, Dorian, & Isaias; NC tornadoes, and COVID. In addition, she has lent her expertise as a UMCOR volunteer coordination specialist for 9/11 response and disaster relief in Alabama, Texas, and Mississippi during the Katrina response. She was NC VOAD (Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster) President during the response and recovery to Hurricane Matthew and Hurricane Florence, working with NC Emergency Management and FEMA to organize volunteer response and establish local, county-led Long-Term Recovery Groups to oversee disaster response for those storms and to prepare for future events.

Currently, Ann chairs the NC VOAD Emotional & Spiritual Care / Senior Wellness / Child Wellbeing Committee. She is an Early Response Trainer and the NC Conference Disaster Readiness & Volunteer Coordinator.

Ann enjoys being with her family (that includes 3 cats), reading, cooking, and testing recipes from America’s Test Kitchen.
