As we are in appointment-making season, Bishop Shelton has encouraged all of us to pray for the Cabinet, clergy and their families, and congregations. We will be sharing prayers over the next few weeks and encourage you to share them with your church.
Read the final prayer in the series written by Jay Locklear.
God, you are faithful.
God, you are unchanging.
God, you are always creating.
God, you make all things new.
You led your people with fire and with cloud, through the waters of the sea and through the barren wilderness. May we follow where you call us today.
You called your disciples from their nets and empowered them to preach the good news of the gospel, teaching them and preparing them to lead. May we hear all the ways you call us today.
You birthed your church with rushing wind and tongues of flame, creating a new family united in love and empowered by the Holy Spirit. Make us ever-aware of the new thing you are doing in your church today.
As decisions are finalized and announcements are made across the churches of the North Carolina Conference, may we hear your voice in all that will be said and done in this transitional season. We are thankful for our Bishop and our Cabinet, who lead us faithfully in all they do, and for their willingness to serve your church.
God, you are faithful.
God, you are unchanging.
God, you are always creating.
God, you make all things new.
Our trust is in you, O God. Your Word tells us that you are faithful, and we have seen your goodness with our own eyes. We place our lives in your hands and know that you will guide our steps.
As we enter into new seasons of ministry, may we go with the faithful love of God, the unchanging grace of Jesus Christ, and the ever-present power of the Holy Spirit, today and all days. Amen.
