We invite you to join us for a season of reflection and self-examination beginning on Ash Wednesday, February 17.
We will offer a short Ash Wednesday service, led by Bishop Hope Morgan Ward, as we begin the Lenten season together. We will send more information on participating in this live, interactive worship experience as we move closer to Ash Wednesday.
Also, beginning on Ash Wednesday, we will offer a daily reflection for the 40 days of Lent and Easter Sunday (remember that the 40 days of Lent do not include Sundays). From a diverse group of writers from across our conference family, each reflection will offer the author’s perspective and thoughts on Isaiah 58:11:
“The Lord will guide you continually, and satisfy your needs in parched places, and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters never fail.” (NRSV)
The reflections will be available on the Lent 2021 website and emailed each day as well. Make sure you are subscribed to receive the daily devotions.
As we make this Lenten journey together, consider these words from Bishop Ward:
“Isaiah 58 is a strong Biblical text for daily Lenten meditations, describing what is while trusting God for what will be . . . Fasting, we begin the forty-day journey toward the God’s watered garden of Easter joy.”
We look forward to walking these paths with you throughout the days of Lent and pray that the gift of these reflections and prayers will indeed be “like a spring of water, whose waters never fail.”
